Let The Distraction Take You.

I was sat in a meeting today and finding it really difficult to concentrate. We’re in a heatwave here in the UK, and I have NO spoons. I want to love the heat, but it saps every bit of energy I have.

There’s always a camera or three in my studio, so I gave in to the pleasant distraction of taking photos from my seat, while my Zoom camera was off. It was a long meeting. We all turn our cameras off to distract ourselves. Right??

I like photographing studio gear at the moment; well designed gear photographs are this week’s special interest. I probably won’t think about this idea again for months though; and that’s totally fine. I’m done with the guilt around getting distracted by short term interests. I used to feel terrible about it. But it’s not bad. That’s ADHD. I’m still getting used to the idea, but I’m cutting myself more and more slack every day. It’s nice.

So yeah Give yourself permission to be distracted. Follow curiosity. Stroll through your Hobby Graveyard and take joy in all the things you try and have tried. There is no guilt; no shame! Just curiosity.

Also, these UA Apollo interfaces are PRETTY huh. Wonder what I’ll be into photographing next week?
